Winter can be hard on some of us - especially the summer-lovin' folks! I use January as a month for some extra rest. December is such a busy month & if we don't take a little time to regroup, we can burn out. I look at the many possibilities for the year. I allow them to swirl around, so I can feel the difference between what really wants to emerge & what just sounds good at the moment.
Go ahead, take some time to slow down & feel the vibe of winter. Hibernate when it's an option. The rest will do your body good & allow new, creative ideas to form.
This is how winter makes me feel.
How about you? What's brewing in your den?

How have you learned about love through letting go? Are you aware that love, once created is never lost? What experiences have you had with Spirit that have affected you in subtle or profound ways How does music connect you to Spirit, to Love's presence?Tweet
Couldn't sleep. What to do?
Here's my medicine. Take some.
People lie awake/toss & turn at night for various reasons - many from anxiety & worry. Me - I get excited about things. The body experiences the same symptoms, whether from excitement or anxiety - the adrenal glands are a pumpin', amongst other things!
Bottom line - too much energy is flowing through the body for relaxation to take place, or it's getting stuck in a certain location within the body & needs to be distributed more evenly to balance things out. By now, you can see that I'm not speaking in medical terms here, though my doctor friends can back me up. This is about energy as a spiritual force. Everything is energy.
I have just finished preparing my novel, Heaven, for press. It's a project I've been working on - researching & writing for the last several years. It's like a plane that's been in the hangar, parts first scattered on the floor, eventually coming together as one unit. Finally, it's sitting on the tarmac, engines running, awaiting the word from the tower to take off. The tower represents publishing funds.
My friend, John Rody of former KZEW-FM fame, called me the other day & asked if I'd like to join his new circus. I've been a part of the circus before. I remember what fun it can be. So, like the tight-rope walking, fire juggling gal I am, I said, "Of course!"
First show, we talked about my soon-to-be-released novel & things quickly turned to mayhem, as they do with him...& with me. Long after the show is over, the energy that has been generated is still circulating in the body. I have much experience with this phenomenon, as I have been a performer for most of my life. It's exhilarating, but can be hard on the mind & body when not balanced.
I believe imbalanced energy is the reason why so many artists, of all persuasions, have addictions that lead many of them to untimely deaths. This fits for anyone - I just use artists as an example because it's easy to see in those whose profiles are public. Artists like Jimi Hendrix & Curt Cobain drew in more spiritual energy than they could release, it seems.
Spiritual energy is universal, collective, & infinite. It has much more voltage than one human body can contain. When we engage our creative selves, we engage Spirit, as they are intimately connected - in fact, they're one & the same. We draw energy from a greater Source into our minds & bodies.
It has to be released if sleep is ever going to be peaceful & sound or if we're ever to live a balanced waking life. One of the surest ways to release creative energy is through great sex! See God+Sex = Making Love. Tonight's method, however, was to get up & dance like a wild banshee! Yep, just get up & get after it. Go ahead & laugh. It's a pretty funny picture, I know. Just try it. I'd like to see people use this method to release stress at other times, too. Middle of a work day. We'd all be havin' a lot more fun - who cares what anyone else thinks about it (might see some good Elaine Benes moves)! Then, of course, you can blog about it if you still have a little energy left over.
Ohhhh, soooo sleepy. Zzzzzzzzzzzz.
I told you about a dream, in my last post, in which a snake taught me about fear - or rather, the illusion of fear. Snake had much to teach; she first showed me a picture of my own fear, as I previously shared. We watched the movie together, so to speak. I was able to see, when looking at my fear of a situation from a more objective viewpoint, that there was really nothing to be afraid of at all.
I then turned my attention to Snake, curious about her as my messenger/teacher. I have never really had any personal dealings with snakes, but as stated before, the snake has long been used as a universal symbol for fear.
I asked her why. "Why are you a symbol of fear?"
Though she had originally appeared as a fang-bearing monster, she now turned soft in demeanor & spoke tenderly, as a friend & as one who is greatly misunderstood.
She said she typically stays out of sight, hiding in dark places when in the presence of humans, out of her own fear. She watches from a distance, studying. She knows that when spotted, she will most likely face death. She has learned how to strike first, in order to survive. Her goal is really not to harm - she simply knows that when she shows her fearsome self, she will be left alone. It's a lonely existence, but for now, it is the role assigned to her in our culture.
The dark corners in which she lurks parallel the dark corners of the human psyche - those areas unrevealed within us. We don't want to see them or know about them for fear we won't be able to control them. So, we keep them locked in our unconscious minds. We often have opportunities to look at them & possibilities of transforming them into something much less frightening, but instead, we force them back into the darkness, hoping to kill them off forever.
The symbol of the serpent as evil is simply a mirror of our own unawakened selves. Why are we so afraid to know who we are? When we decide to peer into the dark corners, we will find a new image waiting there - one of healing & personal empowerment. This is the symbol of the serpent used by the American Medical Association - the rod of Asclepius. It is the symbol of the Kundalini energy of Eastern mystical traditions, the Divine Feminine - the creative fire.
Fear is a powerful form of energy. It is simply a choice to allow it to stay hidden in dark corners, controlling our lives or to coax it into the light & use it as a creative, healing tool. I will continue to write about using this energy for transformation in future posts. I am passionate about seeing people experience self-healing & personal empowerment, seeing creative energy come alive.
Individual empowerment leads to collective empowerment. The end of suffering for one seeds the end of suffering for all. We must take our fear & use it as high octane fuel for our individual, & collective, creative fire.
Take this quote to heart, from A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson: "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
This is the word, ya'll! The Divine Feminine has been in hiding; she's been waiting deep within us & watching for her time to rise, to meet her Divine Masculine partner. He's been operating in our society, without the Wisdom of his partner, for far too long!
What are we waiting for? Let's do it...Let's create...Let's dance...Let's rise & shine! Amen.
Like a virgin, I open to my first blog experience with excitement & a little fear. Excitement, because I have so much I want to share! Fear, because I've heard the warnings - there are always so many warnings to heed (or not) when entering new territory! As with everything else I've ever done in my life, the excitement always wins over the fear, eventually.
So, I'm going to start by asking your forgiveness for the things I may not do well or right. I don't know the rules just yet. It is said that ignorance of the rules is no excuse, but in my tradition of pushing through fear, I have faith that I will learn what I need to learn & the rest will prove irrelevant.
I have read some good books to help me learn. They've been enjoyable, even if not my usual reading fare. Naked Conversations by Robert Scoble/Shel Israel, World Wide Rave by David Meerman Scott, & Tribes by Seth Godin are among my tutors. With all due respect to expert advice, I'm going to go ahead & get started before knowing all the rules. I know I might screw up & tick off some blogging experts, but I'm taking that risk. Reason being - by the time I read everything, learn the rules, create the plan, etc., etc., there will be new tools & the ones I'm striving to learn will be obsolete. Technology is moving at warp speed & I'm not a technology expert. I simply want to take advantage of what little I know of it so I can share my real gifts with you!
Ugh - that's a weight lifted to start by saying that I don't know what I don't know! Here's what I do know. Fear cripples us. And we all experience it in one way or another. It is my desire to continually push through the experience of fear into the unknown, where I inevitably find joy. Maybe not immediately, but joy is always there.
I accomplish this through creativity & I am passionate about inspiring others to do the same. Music, dance, art, words, education - anything that creates movement. Here, in the creative realm, the Divine Feminine opens herself - she invites us to experience her beauty, her passion & compassion. When you engage, you penetrate her & she is joyous in her completion.
Yeah, I'm gonna talk about Sex here. Not just sex in the sense that you're used to hearing/talking about it. Well, that too, but more specifically - the Spirit of Sex - the Essence of what is at the core of our very being. I'm gonna talk about God here. Not the religious God - okay, that too, when called for. More specifically, the God that is...everything. Everything that encompasses that concept! GodSex - that's the stuff that many people like to keep separate...or maybe, just don't have the framework or an outlet to bring them together. Here is that outlet. Plug in!
