Houses of the Holy - it's the title of a great Led Zeppelin album that was banned in some parts of the Southern U.S. when it was released in 1973. The issue was the cover art which featured naked children.
It's also what we are. Our bodies are houses of the Holy. Our spirits are large & beautiful, & we reside in these physical temples for a time. When we honor the temple of the body, we allow our spirits to shine more brilliantly, providing an environment of wholeness & health.
As modern as we believe we are, our culture is still having difficulty dealing with the human body. Stories about art teachers being fired from schools when angry parents learn that their children have been exposed to statues or paintings of nudes still pop up in the news. Some religious leaders warn that the physical self is not a connection to the spiritual.
"Naked Prayers" & the Naked Vibes show are about connecting our physical, mental/emotional & spiritual selves - living authentically & whole-ly - in other words, holy. Heaven, the novel, is about turning over the ideas of sexuality & spirituality & examining what each of those facets of our humanity look like - instead of simply regurgitating the spirituality of someone else (parents, ministers, society). It's also about loving our sexuality & recognizing it as a spiritual gift in all of its mysteries - the multitude of shapes & sizes in which it comes! It's about feeling comfortable about claiming the freedom to be the sexual being you are without any religious or political faction defining it for you.
I believe we have real splintered images of sexuality in our culture that need to be healed. Lots of mixed messages. Tantra is a beautiful practice for deepening the art of sacred sexuality. It, like other spiritual disciplines is not meant to be taken lightly, however. It is not simply a way to achieve heightened orgasms (though that can be a BIG benefit!). It is a path for achieving awareness of the connection between our sexual selves & our spiritual selves.
Why are we still painting pleasure as a decadent thing or as something that is "less than" spiritual?
Art & music show us who we are.
We are Houses of the Holy.

If you think we, as a human culture, have achieved sexual freedom, think again. Our individual & collective sexuality is attacked from many corners. Why? Because it's effective! Sexuality is at the base of our humanity. Sex is the act that brings us into the physical world. So, it's among the most powerful of human emotions & actions. It's a door of vulnerability within us.
When honored as a sacred act, it has the power to transform the energy generated by physical activity into the psychic energy of Love. Love is an energy with the power to transform the world.
Instead, we are still immersed in a global culture of sexual abuse. From media images devoid of love energy to news reports of sexual "attacks" made by governments to maintain dominance, we are exposed to negative sex attitudes, on a daily basis, in one place or another.
CNN has reported an Amnesty International claim that "female demonstrators were beaten, given electric shocks, strip-searched, threatened with prostitution charges and forced to submit to virginity checks" following a recent government protest in Egypt. A demonstrator said the arresting soldiers wanted to teach her (& the 16 other female protesters) a lesson. A senior general has defended the practice, saying, "The girls who were detained were not like your daughter or mine."
In other words, these were "bad" girls. That's why they were protesting - not because they wanted to make their voices heard!
Sexuality is powerful. When we finally recognize it as a gateway to our highest, most excellent Selves - our spiritual Selves - we will be able to use this energy for boundless good. Because it creates Pleasure - & Pleasure is a path to Joy. Through Joy, sheer Genius is channeled into the world.
Perhaps these oppressors are aware of this power - this sleeping giant that, once awakened, could upend their agenda? Hmmm...surely not. Nevertheless, we should never underestimate the damage that can be commanded from the base camp of the subconscious mind.

SEX - it carries, within it, so much raw power.
Titillating just to insinuate a look at it, a discussion about it, & certainly a taste, smell, thought, or feel of it.
What fear it conjures!
A fan of my novel, Heaven, recently wrote to me that she absolutely loved the book. She said she read it on a plane, but she took the cover off of it. She didn't want anyone to see what she was reading. Another said she "devoured every delicious word". When I asked her if she would consider giving it to a friend as a gift, she said, "Oh, no. I loved it, but it's a bit too racy for my crowd!" I was at the home of yet another fan, a personal friend, who had the book on an end table in her den, again sans cover.
What is it about this beautiful, provocative cover? How is it different from the images we see every single day in magazines, TV, on product packaging, websites, etc?
Humans are intuitive beings. I believe they sense the depth of intimacy that lurks within the pages of this novel. And that's the frightening part - not the sex.
Sex, when it's truthful & intimate, is a sacred act. We are vulnerable in our nakedness; & vulnerability takes us out of our comfort zones. That's not a place we like to be - until we experience it in its true, exquisite beauty & freedom, that is.
When we decide to be naked & unashamed, vulnerable to one another in this intimate act, we find peace & pleasure that opens us to the sheer joy of being human.
Holy, Divine Orgasms, folks! It's okay to admit, openly, that you're all for it! And you know what? When you do, you're giving others the gift of knowing they're not alone. The idea that sexuality is "too racy" for your crowd is simply the voice of fear speaking. It is not the Truth. The sooner we open up to one another about our common need for pleasure & the goodness of it, the sooner we will heal many other forms of dis-comfort & dis-ease.
Go ahead, keep the clothes on. Heaven's clothes, that is.

I was interviewed by Betty Louise on her radio show Coach Betty LIVE! - Living an Organic & Orgasmic Life! for Transformation Talk Radio last week. The conversation was sizzling & I encourage you to listen if you're curious about connecting your spirituality to your sexuality.
Betty had just finished reading, Heaven, the morning of our interview, so she was buzzing with the energy of sacred sexuality & ready to dig into some juicy nuggets from the book. She believes, as I do, that nurturing our sexuality is a major piece of the puzzle in determining how healthy we are as individuals & as a society.
Are you loving your beautiful body as you should be? Giving it the proper food, exercise, pampering & positive self-talk? What about making love to your most authentic Self, free of judgment & full of joy? Are you loving one another in ways that honor your sexuality and your spirituality?
What does this all mean anyway? Listen to the interview to find out! Betty even played some of the music from the CD that accompanies Heaven - a portion of the title song & "Truth", one of the cuts from Local Honey that's on the CD.
Pay Coach Betty a visit & see what else she has in store for Living an Organic & Orgasmic Life!

It's a great feeling that we ALL should be experiencing! Truly.
Whatever it is that turns us on, ignites our fire, makes us sing with enthusiasm also brings joy to others! What a world-changing effect it would be if we were to all get comfortable with who we are & what we have to offer. Then the real adventures could begin! No one would be busy trying to hold others captive or have power over them - we'd all be busy enjoying our lives & blessing everyone around us with that kind of power.
I understand that this kind of thinking sounds idealistic to some. That's okay. Love is a worthwhile ideal. I believe in the power of LOVE. It's the foundation for creativity.
Listen here to the recording of my latest tele-gathering, Move Your Sexy Spirit to see how, through the connection of our sexuality & our spirituality, we can live more creative, joyful lives & move our Love into the world.
Clue: If you feel "stuck" - getting outside & engaging with the natural world - the sensual world - will get your own sensual juices flowing & make you feel more alive - more comfortable & at ease with your own self. This is the domain of the Divine Feminine.
This little guy is comfortable. When he becomes uncomfortable, he sheds & moves into his new, more expansive skin.
How is the Divine Feminine trying to make herself more apparent in your life?
Could you benefit from shedding some old skin & moving your own sexy spirit a bit?

Women everywhere are answering the call to express this Divine Feminine energy that flows like sensual, liquid fire.
Inspiring, Courageous, Creative, Beauty-full!
I'm on a high from seeing two extraordinarily beautiful & powerful women "do their thing" over the last couple of evenings & I feel the need to share the experiences with you. Reason being - I imagine a lot of extraordinarily beautiful & powerful women coming my way who need to know that they're in this camp! I want to inspire you to be exactly who & what you are by introducing you to these lovely ladies.
I received an invitation from my friend, Carolyn, to attend a video shoot.
I hadn't seen her & her husband Rickey "Bongo" Carthen in a while. Rickey performed with my sister & me for many years in our band, Frankly Scarlet. He's a gifted percussionist & harmonica player, as well as producer (but that's another story!). I wanted to see the couples' latest creation, so I carved out some time to stop by the shoot last night. I was floored & unprepared for what I saw when I arrived. I was expecting to see a full band performing a new song with Rickey at his signature percussion set-up & Carolyn on vocals. I first thought the shoot hadn't started because Rickey came to the venue door to let me in & there were just a couple of young guys & a girl sitting on stage in sparkly clothes - no instruments to be seen.
The PA started pumping music & they got up & went into a hot dance routine. I then realized that the"girl" up there was my friend, Carolyn. WOW! She was absolutely stunning! She always has been, but as she said, "For years, I've been behind the scenes & it was time for me to take the stage on my own. It feels really good & if it's for anything, it's for me."
Well, I can tell you that Carolyn's time definitely has come - as Kavi-R! She wrote & performed the song, "It's the Shoes", for the video shoot, produced a story-board for a filmed story sequence, & choreographed & performed a dance routine. I can't wait to see the final video & direct you to see it when it's finished. The important part here, though, is Carolyn's journey. She's been 100% supportive of her husband & their two gorgeous children. Many people give up on their own creative dreams after being in a supporting role to others for a while. Sometimes, they don't even remember what their dreams were. This venture is a transformative experience for Carolyn & it's already a huge success because Carolyn has empowered herself to remember & explore the parts of her creativity that have been "waiting in the wings". What an inspiration!
Tonight, I learned that a dear friend was in town from Santa Fe & that she would be teaching a NIA class.
I only had a half hour to change & get to the dance studio - I had to make it because I needed to move my bones & I certainly didn't want to miss seeing & dancing with Jamie. When she moved from Dallas to Santa Fe a year ago, Jamie Klein was in the process of transforming herself - not to become someone different, but to become who she truly is. Exquisitely feminine. Jamie & I met in a NIA class & immediately connected on a very deep level. She was leaving a job as a top salesperson for Lexus, where she worked ten-hour days. She was in a very masculine, numbers-driven environment & had worn the clothes well to get the job done. She also had a lot of pain in her right side.
During our first conversation, I knew intuitively that Jamie's body, mind, & spirit were screaming
for her feminine nature to come out & play. Her right side, representing her masculine energy, was locked up & saying it had had enough. It was time for balance or else. Fortunately, Jamie was listening to her inner voice. She embraced the practice of NIA & it led her through the door to an incredible journey. Click here to read about it.
Like the wonderful surprise last night with Carolyn, I was blessed to experience it again tonight with Jamie! The woman leading the class was a totally transformed Jamie. She had shed the old "suit" & is wearing her Self like a shining beacon of joy & vitality. And that is a gift not to be underestimated. Jamie's willingness to strip her old skin & start anew, to find her true Self, has led to a ministry of joy-in-the-body that is touching the lives of countless others.
I saw the Spirit of the Divine Feminine in Carolyn & Jamie & I can assure you, there is nothing sexier than this Inner Fire, this Sacred Joy (both of their husbands agree!). You may not know these two women, but you can see the Divine Feminine Spirit, too - you won't have to look too far, as She is showing up in more & more places & faces. She is powerful, but don't let Her frighten you. Your fear is only a sign that you recognize this dormant Divine power within yourself. If you were to awaken Her, She would surely take you on a wild ride - a ride to the core of your own True Nature - your God/Goddess Self. Ummmmm, delicious. Whenever you're ready, Love. I can't wait to see you shine.
I delight in inspiring others to break through barriers & shine as their True Selves.

“The Creator loves the created because we’re a part of the Creator’s own essence. That Essence shows itself everywhere, hoping we’ll notice and accept. You need to learn to accept the reality of unconditional love, in whatever way you can find to conceive of it. You were created beautifully, through Divine intention - your physical features, your personality, your talents, your soul. Then you - we all - turn around and tell God we’re not satisfied with the outcome. I think dogs, trees and rocks are a lot smarter – they’re satisfied with who they are!”
“So this is what he wanted?” Abbey asks, her face and gesture mocking her own being. “I’m a stripper who loves a stiff drink, a hit of coke and a good fuck. I don’t fit in at a church. I’ve gone once or twice and I thought the place was gonna spontaneously combust at the sight of me. Face it, Eve, some of us just don’t fit in with God.”
I laugh. “I gotta tell ya. I’ve heard that one before and I can’t help but find the humor in the fact that people think the entire Universe could actually cave at the sight of their indiscretions! How arrogant is that? Really?”
“Well, I’ve never really thought about it like that,” she says. She shakes her head and opens her mouth in a “duh” gesture. Maybe she’ll do some thinking here.
“It’s just another roadblock you throw up for yourself, Abbey - comparing yourself to others. You’re right - you don’t fit the same mold. God is much more diverse than we’re willing to accept. I think Divinity experiences its immense creativity through our differences. God the Rock Star, God the Garbage Collector, God the Elementary School Teacher, the Computer Programmer, the Manicurist, the Stripper...”
“Okay, okay. I get it,” Abbey interrupts, shaking her head at me. “You’re havin’ just a little too much fun with that whole thing.”
I laugh and shrug my shoulders. It is fun for me. © 2010 Kimberly Cain

"You deceive yourself in thinking that I see the dregs of society in my chambers, so to speak. I see everyman. I am seeing more & more of corporate, political & religious society in my world all the time & I believe they'll keep coming in droves as long as human beings continue to separate themselves from each other & ultimately, from God. We've made wonderful technological advances, but they haven't come without a price to our individual freedom. The more we hide behind our email & our voice mail, the more disconnected we become. We are sensual beings. We connect with the Divine Spirit by connecting with ourselves & with each other.
"People need to look at the naked human body because they need to experience beauty. Some need a mirror in which to experience their own sensuality because they're too repressed to let themselves go. I truly believe they are experiencing the Sacred through me, whether they ever think of it in that way or not." © 2010 Kimberly Cain
